The Male Educator Network & Policy Institute

Building a national movement to recruit, retain, and champion men in education.

The Challenge

Every student deserves to see themselves reflected in the adults who teach them, yet millions of boys will go through school without a single male teacher. Policymakers across the country are waking up to this challenge. Now is the moment to act—and MEN is the organization to lead the charge.

  • Men now account for just 23% of teachers in the United States.

  • That’s down from 33% in the 1980’s.

  • Less than 2% of teachers in America are African-American men.

What We Do

The Male Educator Network & Policy Institute is the first organization of its kind—dedicated solely to building a national coalition, trusted community, and unifying voice for men in education. Part think-tank, part fraternity, MEN arms individuals, organizations, and institutions with data-driven research and bold public policy.

Community & Network

We connect male educators through affinity groups, college chapters, mentorship, and an annual national convening so no man teaches alone.

Policy & Research

We produce policy briefs, white papers, and actionable playbooks that give state and district leaders the evidence they need to invest in male teacher pipelines.

Awareness & Storytelling

We run social media campaigns, engage with the media, and hosts events that shift how America sees men in the classroom.

By the Numbers

17% of college students who are majoring in education are men

6% of teachers are men of color

20% of elementary and middle school teachers are men
